Grants and Compliance Officer
Pay Range: $60,600-65,600, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefit package
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Reports To: Director of Development

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to work with Foundation’s teams to seek, secure, and manage grant awards to support its primary program areas; research funders and write grants in collaboration with staff; maintain relationships with contacts at key funders; and manage contracts and grant agreements. Monitors grant awards, working closely with staff to track activities, performance measures, and other reporting metrics in alignment with funder requirements. Ensures compliance with regulations applicable to state and federal grant awards. Provides required reports and updates to funders. A strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Foundation is essential as we work together to serve the communities of Central Minnesota.
Responsibilities:
- Grant Writing (50%): Researches and identifies potential funders. Prepares grant inquiries. Writes and fully prepares funding applications for submission. Coordinates assembly of complex proposals and materials across teams and work groups, including narratives, budgets, and performance measures. Manages relationships with consultants contracted to assist with grant proposals. Maintains internal library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, rosters, etc. Submits applications via online portals or postal system; maintains passwords to funder systems. Maintains and develops application tracking system to monitor deadlines, status of pending proposals, and funds secured.
- Compliance and Reporting (40%): Works closely with staff to design and maintain systems to monitor progress and performance measures as required by funders. Collaborates with the finance team to ensure adequate financial tracking, reporting, and controls for grant awards. Maintains thorough knowledge of regulations relevant to state and federal awards. Ensures regulatory compliance for grant awards. Monitors reporting schedules and completes grant reports, ensuring proper compliance and timely submission.
- Other Duties (10%): Participates in staff meetings and events. This may include conducting special projects, assisting with other Foundation training events, working on cross-work group teams, etc. Participates in meetings with funders, financial institutions, and other partners. Carries out other duties as assigned by the supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team. This position will perform assigned duties for the Foundation’s subsidiary, the Impact Fund, as a leased employee.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Position requires a strong understanding of grant-seeking, writing, award management, and reporting processes. Knowledge of the regulations that apply to state and federal grant awards, and experience maintaining regulatory compliance (eg grants.gov, amis.gov, sam.gov and grantsolutions.gov) is required. Candidate should have experience working with teams to package full applications. Must possess strong writing skills and an ability to create and manage budgets using spreadsheets and other tools. Experience working in collaborative environments is a plus. Experience working with loan fund grants and compliance, including Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), is also a plus.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit, community development or finance and three years’ experience in grant writing, award management, and compliance or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Position requires a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage or access to reliable transportation.
Location: This position’s home office is in Little Falls, MN, and requires a portion of worktime in the office. As a hybrid workplace employer, this position allows for some Central Minnesota-based remote work.
